2011

The Astral Board approves the building of a state of the art feed mill, which can produce 30 000 tons per month in Standerton.



Meadow Feeds outsources the entire fleet to Barloworld Logistics.
2009

Meadow Feeds is the first mill in South Africa to receive a platinum certificate of compliance from Afri Compliance.


2008
Tiger Animal Feeds establishes an integrated breeder farm and hatchery in Lusaka called Tiger chicks.
2007

The shareholding in Meadow Mozambique is increased to 80%.


2006
Meadow purchases the mill in Ladismith in 2006.
2005

Astral acquires 100% of Africa Feeds Ltd and starts trading as Tiger Animal Feeds.


2004
Meadow builds a new mill in PE.
2003

Meadow Randfontein is the first Feed mill in the Southern hemisphere to be certified ISO 9001/2000, GMP and HACCP.
Meadow Feeds changes its logo.

2001
Tiger Brands Limited unbundled and resulted in Astral Foods Limited being listed on the JSE on 9 April 2001.
2000

Meadow acquires a 33.33% shareholding in a mill in Mozambique.
Meadow Natal attains ISO 9001-2000 certification.

 


1999
A technical agreement was signed with Provimi Holdings BV.
1996

Meadow expands into Africa, purchasing shares in a feed mill in Lusaka Zambia, a fish mill in Kariba Zimbabwe and a feed mil in Lilongwe Malawi.


1994
Meadow Natal becomes the first feed mill to achieve the ISO certification.
1986

The Delmas Maize Mill is converted into a 100% Meadow Feeds mill.


1979
The Delmas Mill is rebuilt once again and the Meadow Feeds department is expanded.
1973
The company’s name is changed to Milling and Trading Company.

1972
Designer Paul Rand creates the eight-bar IBM design that will serve as the company’s logotype for over 30 years.
1969
Meadow Natal, the most highly automated feed mill in Southern Africa, is completed at Pietermaritzburg.

1968
Dr Gert Mostert is appointed as the first marketing manager of Meadow Feeds.
1967
Tiger Oats announces its plans to build the first modern super-mill for Meadow Feeds in Pietermaritzburg.

1961
The First Meadow banquet for the South African Poultry Association (SAPA) is held.
1957
Work is completed on the rebuilding of the new Delmas Mill.

1956
The Delmas Mill burns down again.
1947
Tiger Oats acquires the Delmas Milling Company and the first Technical Advisors are appointed.

1946
Meadow appoints its first animal nutritionist, Dr P Oosthuizen.
1942
The Meadow name is used for the very first time.

1933
The first balanced feed in South Africa is produced.
1929
Lurie Brothers is purchased by Natal Milling, which is in turn acquired by Tiger Oats.

1915
The Delmas Milling Company is born under the direction of GB Gordon and J Davidson.
1914
Delmas Maize Mill, owned by Alex Robertson, burns down.
